Happy New Year!! We had 8 women show up today... some for just the morning, some just the afternoon, and some of us crazies for THE WHOLE DAY! I knew it was gonna be cold, so I made chili and Janet G brought cornbread. (see? we just don't sew... we have fun, too). Before we show you what we DID, we'll show you some work that our ladies brought in.
This beauty was made by Kathy with little I Spy squares that we had in our stash (at church- yes, even church has it's stash). It's a great kid sized quilt.
Another quilt (top) made by Janet, with all kinds of sports fabrics! Great quilt for a teenage boy... we plan to add blue "netting" fabric as a 4" border.

This one by Janet was 'almost done', but needed Margaret and company to finish the binding. Marilyn took it home to finish.
Check out the next two photos... wild, swirly back!
Kathy needed to get her 'floral strips' used up, so check out the two quilts she finished over the holidays! Lots of fabrics in this one, brought back memories for Janet... clothes he made for her daughter.
This is the back of her second quilt with florals.
This is the front of the second one... Makes me think of "Two Grandmas on a bench"
This one is finally finished (top only though). I think it should be named "Janet's Awful Quilt", since the little squares were put together and Janet didn't like it. After a few borders and a bright orange flange to frame it, I think she now loves it!!
On to the real work of the day.... fixing borders that are wavy are never pleasant, but they are so wonderful to fix it! Margaret (back to camera) is working on the binding. Janet and Kathy are 'fixing' the "Rainbow Lasagna" quilt.
Delaney is great at picking out borders and very willing to iron them before I got to sew them on the "Sports' quilt.
Dee (incognito) is working on foundation blocks for our 'homework'. The color of the homework is "red". See next month's update for what we will be working on each month.
Mary Ellen made this great little winter quilt (naming it "Winter Warmth"), which we will add a border to enlarge it. Found a great lime-y green for the outer border. Stay tuned...
Kathy and Janet take a look at a UFO (unfinished object) to decide on the next step. (this was made with orphan blocks made with plaids.
We'll be adding a cream 2.5" border, then a wide red plaid border, then add the fabric at the top of the table as a backing. It will made a great wheelchair sized quilt.
Hope you enjoyed the photos and the updates as much as we enjoyed doing it.
I think we are going to try and make all our meeting on Saturdays as we move ahead. We get so much done in 6 hrs!
