Had a great mtg today... lots of stuff got further in the process.
All of Kim's (8) little quilts found their matching critters, got wrapped, tied and photographed. (One of mine slid in and photobombed--the green beanie bear.)
Kathys quilts (25) got photographed, but they still need to be finished-- they already have critters that match their little quilts.
We also laid out our homework pieces to see how many we had and how far we can go for a quilt from it. Since they will be 12.5" square blocks, we decided to make it 4 x 5 blocks, add a border... done! If we make some more strips, we can get two quilts done! I need to cut 4.5" square blocks for our triangles, add them to the right end of the strips, sew them together. Block, done!
I also, gave a demo on sandwiching a quilt using pool noodles, on a personal quilt.
I brought my other scrappy quilt in to get ideas how to finish it. We will add a cream border with an internal deep purple flange. Then add wide blue border.
The ladies got to check out all the FABULOUS fabrics donated by Elka of www.fabricparadise.com!!! A few prints were immediately snagged by Kathy who LOVES the chickens and I have some jungle critters that would work with my jungle prints. You will see them possibly next month. I gave all the ladies Elka's business cards to check out more novelty prints.
We even had a new member/guest join us. She heard of our group from a member, Martha, of our St Peters church. She was lovely, brought cookies (always good), knows how to sew/quilt already (a gift), so... Welcome, Elizabeth!
Next month's mtg, we hope one lady, who has been donating a TON of critters (34, so far), among other things... trims, tying materials, thread, etc will be able to it. Speaking of next month, due to Easter weekend being the first weekend of April, our mtg will be April 11th! I, also forgot to check to see if we can change the Nov mtg to the SECOND Saturday. Any objections, let me know.
