June critters from Kathy

 Picked up some cuties from Kathy S. And just need to whip-stitch then quilt to finish. Some of these may go to the hospital, but we'll keep some for restocking the police!

June mtg before Summer Vacation

 What a fun mtg!!

I, personally, didnt get much done that I had planned to, but we, as a whole, got lots done!

Dee laid out her dainty hanky quilt (for a friend who gave her the hankies and ask if she could do anything with them -to put into a quilt). Of course!! She'll sew the blocks together at home over the summer. She has a pretty soft blue for the backing.

Once the double tables were clear. Maria had a quilt she was working on ("Norma's Autumn Dream"), that was pinned and just needed to be tied. Once it was all tied, she trimmed the backing and rolled it into the binding. She'll finish sewing the binding edge and mail it off to a recipient in MI. An elderly lady who has dementia and lung cancer, stage 4. Maria became aware of her thru her son. This lady's husband works for her son in MI.

We had a great visit from one of the police officers from So. Windsor, Ron Littell and his wife Cindy. He wasn't on-duty, but wanted to stop by and check in on us! How sweet!! Cindy even brought us some critters... nice! I regret not taking a photo of them, but we were too busy visiting and showing him around.

Donna also requested a quilt for a local, elderly lady going thru pulmonary fibrosis. We gave her Dee's quilt which we named, "Sealed with a Hug" (since it had envelopes on the backing!)

Jill was able to make it and we quickly put her (& Donna) to work wrapping up critters in their "washed" quilts,  then bag them right away to keep them as clean as possible, since these are destined to go to CT Children's Medical Center "oncology dept".

I was able to trim and turn two little quilts and Maria took one home to finish whip stitching and machine quilt. Dee got her little quilt done with her little orange critter

It was a rainy damp day, but we got much done, including deciding on the date for our Sept mtg (13th), discussed availability of being interviewed for a video documentary of our group/critter project (girls said they'd be willing if the interviewers want to come to a mtg to do it) and since we take the summer off, we're making plans for a girls luncheon later this month!

Half year totals...so far.

We've given out 5 quilts and 207 little quilts/critters!! We have 3 quilts in our supply closet.
