While we await our monthly meeting on Sat, I've "taken one for the team' and headed for Maine (hmmm... that's tough, to be by Mardens and lobster rolls!) to quilt on our projects (Comfort Critters quilts) plus one of my own -potato chip block.
I arrived by 10:20am on Monday (normally a 3 hr 20 min ride, but took longer with traffic -left at 6:30. I met 'some' of the ladies (two needed something from Mardens), and one of them was the "boss" of Heartstring Quilt Group, Mary Johnson, who flew in from Georgia!! That is the group that I belong to (online) since it started Dec 2006, and inspired me to start our group in June 2007!
As of the end of the day, I accomplished lots! My plan was to make as many little quilts (tops and backs) as I could with the scraps/fabrics I brought with me. Mondays tally was 10 tops/backs, and 3 backs.
Today, I'll cut batting and get them turned and hopefully, hand-quilted. At some point, they all want to hit the marina for lobster rolls, so (darn!), twist my arm!!
I'll post a photo or two as we go... some tops i did photograph early. They had goodie bags for everyone, a fun bingo game, and Sharon (my buddy who sat near me) made a great casserole and ceasar salad for dinner, besides with lunch fixings! I grabbed scones/muffins to bring from a local bakery. Great first day...
